24 rifle is a bolt-action carbine designed and produced in Czechoslovakia from 1924 to 1942. It was developed from the German Mauser Gewehr 98 line, and features a very similar bolt design. The rifle was designed in Czechoslovakia shortly after World War I, to replace the Vz. 98/22, also a Czech-designed derivative of the Gewehr 98. There is no visible import mark.

Sights / Optics: There is no provision for iron sights. A one-piece Redfield base is mounted to the receiver with rings holding a Nikon Prostaff 4-12x scope. The scope has a few light marks scattered through the body in about Fine condition overall. The reticle is a duplex crosshair.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece walnut with pistol grip, cheekpiece, fluted straight comb and shallow finger grooves on the forend. Sling studs are mounted at the bottom-front of the forend and on the toe-line. There are a few light, scattered marks with more substantial scuffing on the toe-line forward of the sling stud. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14 1/2' from the front of the trigger to the back of the solid black rubber buttpad, 13 3/4' from the front of the set trigger. Overall, the stock is in about Very-Good-plus condition as not original to the rifle.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp and deep. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This gun retains about 96% of its metal finish. The bolt has moderate operational wear. There are a few light marks scattered through the barrel and action. The trigger guard has thinning finish on the edges. The markings have soft edges and some markings are not clear. The first two characters of the maker's mark on the side of the receiver were removed in the refinish. The Screw heads have light tool marks with deep slots. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition as modified and refinished.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is crisp with light creep, however when set with the rear trigger, it breaks very crisply at about 6oz. We did not fire this gun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box & Accessories: This rifle comes with the installed base, rings and scope as described as well as a lens cap set with two pieces attached with two lines of elastic.
Our Assessment: This is a sporterized Czech VZ24. Essentially a Mauser action re-barreled for 7mm-08 Remington, a great all around cartridge. Projectiles can vary in weight from around 130gr to around 195gr, making it a versatile cartridge which can be used for varmint, silhouette, medium game and long-range precision shooting. The set trigger allows for a very crisp, light trigger pull when desired and the Mauser action is legendary for is strength and popularity. This gun can only be shipped to an FFL, and it will be shipped from an FFL. It is your responsibility to ensure that the gun is legal to own and receive in your area. Please include a copy of your dealer’s license with payment or faxed/emailed separately. We will need CFLC numbers for CA FFL’s to ship a firearm within California. We are FFL dealers and comply with all Federal, State and Local laws.
We always combine on shipping to save you as much as we can.
